I am a habilitation candidate in sociology at Heidelberg University, and an associated researcher at the Centre Marc Bloch, Humboldt University of Berlin. Together with Martin Herrnstadt (University of Bremen), I coordinate the DFG-funded Scientific Network "Global Cultures of Enquête: Towards a Praxeology of Surveying (17th–21st Century)".
My research interests lie in the historical sociology of knowledge production, the sociology of colonialism and the sociology of quantification.
I have published on gender and work; statistics; the history of social surveys; the ILO and forced labor.
